What this will do:

  1. Cause the Hill to start at the same place when set up
  2. Gradually add in other hills to the game as time progresses

What this will not do:

  1. Make there be a definite order to the game
  2. Make hill that have been used not usable.

What this will work on:

  1. Headhunter
  2. Infection
  3. Invasion Slayer
  4. King of the Hill
  5. Oddball (will gradually make more possible ball spawns)
  6. Rally
  7. Territories (will gradually add territories to capture)

What this may work on:

These steps may be applied to all game types on their Goals, Flags/Bombs, Territories, or Spawn location to make them active only after a specified time has passed (up to 3 minutes or 180 seconds).

By this point you should have:

  • Most of the map lay out done
  • Spawn locations for the players
  • A place that you want to be neutral
  • NO REQUIRED HILLS FOR THE GAMETYPE THAT YOU ARE SETTING UP
    • If you do have Hills on the map give all of them a Spawn Time and set Place at start = “FALSE”

What Objects this will not work on

Added May 21, 2011
  1. This will not work on Capture Plates or Flag stands.  This is because they do not support spawning in to the game. They will always be place at start even if they are set to not place at start

Placing the Hills

What you will need to know:

  1. What are we doing
    1. in these steps we will be starting off with one at the beginning of the match and gradually adding a usable Hill to the map as time progresses.
  2. How will we do this
    1. We will edit the “SPAWN TIME” of the hills and have them spawn in to the game just before they are used.  this will keep them out of the game until we want them in to the game.
  3. What term do I use
    1. I use the Term “Wave” in reference to the Hills gradually spawning in to the game

The First wave of Hills

Any from this step will be chosen randomly at the beginning of the match; If only 1 then that one will start the match, but if 3 they will be chosen from at random at the beginning of the match.

  1. Create the appropriate hill for the game type you are setting up
  2. Make sure that Place at start = True
    1. If you have it as a vehicle or an object that the player can interact with I would recommend giving it a Spawn Time also

The Second wave of Hills

Any from this step and the one before will be chosen from randomly Unless it just got used and there is another spawned; If only 2 (one from before and one from this step) this one will be the one chosen, but if 3 (one from before and 2 from this step) the 2 created in this step will be chosen from randomly.

  1. Create the appropriate hill for the game type you are setting up
  2. Give a Spawn Time of about 29
    1. By giving it a Spawn Time of 29, it will spawn in to the game just before a new hill will be chosen
    2. I would choose a second or 2 less than the time that hills are active
    3. Remember what number you use it will be used later
  3. Set Place at Start = “FALSE”
    1. If not it will be in the Category of First Hills

Equation for the 2nd wave of hills

you will need to now this equation if you are changing the Hill Movement Time

  • You will need to know how long the Hill is active
  • Spawn Time = (Length the Hill is Active)*((wave of Hill)– 1)-1 =
  • Example of Default King of the Hill; Spawn Time = (30)*((2)-1)-1= 30*1-1=29

Placing the Third wave of Hills

Any from this step and the ones before will be chosen from randomly Unless it just got used and there is another spawned; If 3 (Two from before and 1 from this step) the 1 created in this step and the hill that was not used will be chosen from randomly.

  1. Create the appropriate hill for the Game type that you are setting up
  2. Set Spawn Time = “59”
    1. By giving it a Spawn Time of 59, it will spawn in to the game just before a new hill will be chosen
  3. Set Place at Start = “FALSE”
    1. If not it will be in the Category of First Hills

Equation for the 3rd wave and Later of Hills

  • You will need to know how long the Hill is active
  • What “wave” of spawning you are currently setting up
  • Spawn Time = (Length the Hill is Active)*((wave of Hill)– 1)-1 =
  • Example of Default King of the hill in the 4 wave of Hills; Spawn time = (30)*((4)-1)-1= 30*3-1= 89
  • Please note that the Spawn time can not be more than 180
