Setting up the Map

By this point you should have the Map set up with

  1. Most of the map’s lay out done
  2. Bases or Places for at least Red and Blue
  3. Spawning Locations for at least Red and Blue
  4. Place that you want to be neutral to the teams
  5. Spawning Locations for Neutral players

Placing the flaming skull drop points

First we will do neutrally placed drop points.  These will be used in all Headhunter gametypes

  1. Go to one of your neutral locations
  2. Hit x to open the object Menu and spawn one of the following
    1. Hill Marker (found in the Objectives Tab) – Recommended-
    2. Anything else
  3. Place where you want the drop point to be
  4. Have your drop point selected and hit x to open its properties menu
  5. Go down to SHAPE and give a desired shape
    1. Must have a shape for the player to enter and drop flaming skulls
  6. Go up to the ADVANCED tab
  7. Set Game Specific to TRUE
  8. Change the Gametype Label to “HH_DROP_POINT”
  9. Repeat steps 1 to 8 for each of the drop points you want
    1. Have at least two
  10. ***Optional from here down
  11. Next we will set up Drop Points around bases.  To make it fair for team games we will disable the drop points in and around the bases during Team Games.
    1. If you want all of them to spawn then you can just repeat 1 to 8
  12. Go to one of the bases
  13. Repeat steps 2 to 8 from above and stay in the advanced tab
  14. Set Symmetry to “SYMMETRIC”
    1. This will only make it available in Free For All (FFA) Games
  15. Repeat steps 12 to 14 for each of the points you want around bases.

Setting up Headhunter Spawning

By this point in the map design you should have Initial Spawns (with team colors of at least Red and Blue) and Respawn Points (all neutral).  This section is for setting up the Respawn Influencers that will be affecting these points.

The easiest way of setting up Team Spawning

We are going to create one respawn zone per team Red, Blue, Green, and Orange as they are the most common used in maps and gameplay.

  1. Go to the area or base for Red Team
  2. Hit x and open the Object Menu, Then Go to the Spawning Tab and create a Respawn Zone
  3. Place above the center of the base or just in front
  4. Hit x on the Respawn zone
  5. Set Team to Red
  6. Give a Shape
    1. Make sure it covers the Red Base and least some of the Respawn points outside of the base
    2. Usually covering a large area of 1/4 to 1/3 of the map.
  7. Go to the advanced tab
  8. Set Game Specific to “TRUE”
  9. Set Game Type Label to “TEAM_ONLY”
    1. Will affect Assault, CTF, Team Headhunter, Team KoTH, Team Oddball, Team Slayer, Bro-Slayer (if not set up), Stockpile, Territories.
  10. Repeat for Blue, Green, and Orange

The easiest way of setting up Free for All Spawning

Just have Initial Spawn where you want and have at least 16 respawn points around the map that have the team set to Neutral.  The game does not need a Respawn Zone over the map for FFA games.  But if you want to limit the spawn units available for spawning in FFA games (for example the respawn units on the edge of the map) you can below:

  1. Create a respawn zone and place near the center of the map
  2. Hit x to open the respawn zone properties
  3. Set shape to have the respawn points you want to use inside of the shape
  4. Go to the advanced tab
  5. Set Game type Specific to “TRUE”
  6. Set Game Type Label to “FFA_ONLY”
    1. Will affect FFA Headhunter, FFA KoTH, FFA Oddball, FFA Slayer

Finishing Up Headhunter Setup

So far we have set up the Headhunter game and spawning for Team and FFA games.  Now it is time to finish up the map.

These steps are usually reserved for Weapons, Vehicles, Armor Abilities, or Toys.

Not Recommended for Setting for Buildings and scenery, as they will not spawn in some game types

Team Specific Items

In this step you add ANYTHING that you want to be placed in the Team Based games (those that are not Invasion or infection variants).  This is a very powerful, because items with this label will only spawn in Team Based Games.

  1. Grab the object you wish to spawn in only in team games
  2. Hit x and go to the advanced tab
  3. Set Gametype Specific to “TRUE”
  4. Set Game type Label to “TEAM_ONLY”
  5. Repeat for all of these items

FFA Specific Items

In this step you add ANYTHING that you want to be placed in the FFA Based games (those that are not Race and Rally variants).  This is a very powerful, because items with this label will only spawn in FFA Based Games.

  1. Grab the object you wish to spawn in only in FFA games
  2. Hit x and go to the advanced tab
  3. Set Gametype Specific to “TRUE”
  4. Set Game type Label to “FFA_ONLY”
  5. Repeat for all of these items

Headhunter Specific Items

In this step you add ANYTHING that you only want to be place in a Headhunter game.  This is a very powerful label, because items with this label will only spawn in Headhunter.

  1. Grab the object you wish to spawn in only in Headhunter games
  2. Hit x and go to the advanced tab
  3. Set Gametype Specific to “TRUE”
  4. Set Game type Label to “HEADHUNTER”
  5. Repeat for all of these items

Symmetry Specific Items

In this step you add ANYTHING that you only want to be place in a Symmetry Specific game.  This is a very powerful setting, because it could give both teams a weapon in symmetric games or on the same map give only one team a weapon in an asymmetric game.

  1. First decide if you want this item to be dependent on team, FFA, or Headhunter games or none.
    1. If choose Team, FFA, or Headhunter do those steps 1 to 4 first then continue
    2. If not, then continue
  2. Second decide if you want this item to be dependent on Headhunter symmetric or asymmetric games (when running Headhunter).
    1. If Not
      1. i.      Leave symmetry set to “BOTH”
    2. If you want it to be only FFA Headhunter.
      1. i.      Set Symmetry to “SYMMETRIC”
    3. If you want it to be only in Team Headhunter
      1. i.      Set Symmetry to “ASYMMETRIC”

First we will do neutrally placed drop points. These will be used in all Headhunter gametypes

1.Go to one of your neutral locations

2.Hit x to open the object Menu and spawn one of the following

a.Hill Marker (found in the Objectives Tab) – Recommended-

b.Anything else

3.Place where you want the drop point to be

4.Have your drop point selected and hit x to open its properties menu

5.Go down to SHAPE and give a desired shape

a.Must have a shape for the player to enter and drop flaming skulls

6.Go up to the ADVANCED tab

7.Set Game Specific to TRUE

8.Change the Gametype Label to “HH_DROP_POINT”

9.Repeat steps 1 to 8 for each of the drop points you want

a.Have at least two

10.***Optional from here down

11.Next we will set up Drop Points around bases. To make it fair for team games we will disable the drop points in and around the bases during Team Games.

a.If you want all of them to spawn then you can just repeat 1 to 8

12.Go to one of the bases

13.Repeat steps 2 to 8 from above and stay in the advanced tab

14.Set Symmetry to “SYMMETRIC”

a.This will only make it available in Free For All (FFA) Games

15.Repeat steps 12 to 14 for each of the points you want around bases.
