Invasion is Different from other Games

Other games like Assault, Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, and the rest do not rely heavily on the Game type File that goes with the map.   Sure they will rely on the Game type File to specify how many bombs or flags, Reset timers, and hill movements, but these settings rarely effect on how you set up the map.  Invasion is completely different from those.  Invasion is a Phased game where there are multiple objectives in a game but one at a time.  These phases are set in the Game type options, and there are 3 phases with 3 possible objectives, and must be paired to the map for it to work correctly.  These Objectives are Territories, where one team defends 1 or more locations from the attacking team; Capture the Core, where the attacker take a big heavy box to a designated extraction point; and lastly Assault, where the attacker try to blow something at the defenders base.

Invasion also uses a brand new way of spawning.  All other games use a very complicated way of choosing where the player will spawn based upon where Allies are, Allies have died, and Enemies.  Invasion brakes away from the norm and allows the player to choose where to spawn.  Where the player can choose from is based upon the team they are on, the phase of the game they are in, and what Fireteam (explained later) they are in.

Invasion has another new feature, mainly because of the introduction of phases, is spawning and gating weapons, vehicles, and other objects.

This post will go in detail on how to set up the map for each of those 3 Objectives and much more.

This is a general Guide to setting up HaloBall and is by no means the only way to set up this game type.  To be honest I have seen at least 5 different versions of this game( 3 new; Pinball, Avalanche and Floormaster) that utilize different parts of this game in different ways, and some other prequels (Soccer/Rev-Ball and Skeeball) that probably inspired Bungie to make this game type.  I will try to convey to you on how to set up these very interesting maps.
